The original Babylon 5 Mailing List was started in the summer of 1992 by Troy Rutter at Iowa State University. The mailing list was originally intended to help circulate the Official Digital Trading Cards that were being produced by Warner Bros., but later grew in size and volume. Eventually an FTP site was created on a server called Hyperion, which eventually became the most famous and useful Babylon 5 web site, The Lurkers Guide.

Due to the growing size of the mailing list, it was moved to one of the most powerful computer systems on campus at the time, called a VAX. When the mailing list became too big to handle, Troy Rutter and Jonathan Roy proposed a usernet newsgroup alt.tv.babylon-5. In the original few weeks of the newsgroup, a mail-to-news gateway was established between the mailing list and the newsgroup, however the sheer volume (and a slight misconfiguration of the VAX system) led to the massive computer at Iowa State backlogging mail for the entire university. The gateway was then removed.

Below you will find links to the only remaining Babylon 5 Mailing List archives. I am sure you will see some familiar names among the archives. Enjoy!
